Welcome to the Dr. J.R. Mitchell House! Built in 1909 as what is believed to be the first animal clinic in Evansville, this century-old home has been renovated and modernized. This downstairs apartment was Dr. Mitchell’s original animal clinic while his family’s quarters was located upstairs. Inside, you’ll discover urban comfort at our 2 bed, 2 bath apartment and be just steps away from shopping, dining, and all that the downtown riverfront area has to offer.

This urban retreat (a walkout unit that is street level, just one small step to get into the unit) offers a perfect blend of comfort, style, and convenience. (Can possibly be booked in conjunction with the upstairs unit for groups of up to 12 people) As you step inside, you'll be greeted by a beautifully furnished living space, designed to make you feel right at home. House rules

Quiet hours after 9pm. We will typically have guests staying in our upstairs apartment and while it is rare that they can hear noise from below, we do want to be respectful of them as well. Smoking is not permitted in the home. Any cigarette butts need to be properly disposed of.

The place was so close to downtown! 5 minute walk right from main st, and only a few more minutes from the river. Absolutely gorgeous place, would love to stay here again!

I had a fantastic experience staying at this Airbnb! The house was exactly as described in the listing—clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with everything I needed. Nathan’s rental was perfect for our family wedding weekend. Our so the groom stayed there Friday evening with his brother and Nathan was gracious and allowed us to host all of his groomsmen Saturday morning so they could get ready together and my husband had a great kitchen to cook a brunch for them. The brick walls and atmosphere made an awesome backdrop for some pre wedding casual photos as well. We also loved the downtown location with our rehearsal dinner at the collective on Main Street and reception at the Evansville museum!

We were in town for a family wedding and this location was great! There were several neighborhood coffee shops and restaurants within walking distance. The place was clean, with a well appointed kitchen and laundry area. Plenty of room to spread out and relax. Nice that the place is pet friendly too. We had family in the upstairs unit which was also lovely and we were able to enjoy the rooftop area too! Would definitely stay here again and have already recommended it to other family members.

Great space in a cute part of town that was quiet and walkable. It was very clean and comfortable. We were able to get food delivered easily and really enjoyed going to the Penny Lane coffee shop nearby. Would definitely recommend this for your next trip to Evansville!

My sister and I stayed at this Airbnb while visiting family in the area and it was perfect! It was very clean and had everything we needed. It was in a great location, only a couple of blocks away from the River Walk. Unfortunately the weather and lack of time didn’t allow us to get to know the area but there was a few restaurants walkable from the Airbnb. Parking was right outside the front door. We will be visiting quite a bit and definitely looking forward to staying here again!
