Welcome to the Dr. J.R. Mitchell House! Built in 1909 as what is believed to be the first animal clinic in Evansville, this century-old home has been renovated and modernized. Dr. Mitchell's owners' quarters above the original animal clinic now features two bedrooms, an open bunk room for kids, and three full bathrooms. You'll find the original exposed brick throughout the home which adds the perfect vibe to this modern industrial home.

(Can possibly be booked in conjunction with the downstairs unit for groups of up to 12 people) The home features an open concept kitchen/living room area. The stocked kitchen features stainless steel appliances, a huge island for entertaining with family and friends, wine refrigerator, and more! The living room has a sectional couch where guests can enjoy watching tv and movies on the 100" projector screen with surround sound. The dining room seats 8 guests and the square table offers a great setup for family game night. Off the back of the home, you'll find a spiral staircase which leads to the rooftop sunroom and deck. The sunroom features garage doors that can be opened (weather-permitting) for indoor/outdoor entertainment. You'll enjoy city views towards the riverfront and have the perfect spot to spend quality time with family and friends.

Other Details to Note

Home features a master suite with king bed and ensuite. Ensuite has a jetted tub, walk in double shower, and double sinks. Secondary bedroom with queen bed is in the back of the home and has its own full bathroom with stand-up shower. Open bunk area behind living room has a full over full bunk bed with staircase. There are weight restrictions on the bunk beds so it is recommended for children and small teens. There is a third bathroom with stand up shower that guests using the bunk room can utilize.

House Rules

Quiet hours after 9pm. We will typically have guests staying in our main floor apartment and while it is rare that they can hear noise from above in their unit, we do want to be respectful of them as well. Smoking is not permitted in the home. Any cigarette butts need to be properly disposed of.

Neighborhood

Centrally located in the heart of Downtown Evansville, the home is 3 blocks to Main Street where you'll find coffee shops, restaurants, and other local hot spots. It is also 3 blocks to the riverfront which is a great place for a walk or jog. It is also a couple minute drive to Bally's Casino, the Ford Center, Old National Events Plaza, and more!

Guest Access

The home features a garage on the main level which is accessed off the side alley. The garage is a tight squeeze but the host will guide you through the best way to navigate. There are also two parking spots immediately behind the home, at the main entry door. Public parking is also available on the street, and in one block each direction, there is a public parking garage one block away.

We really loved the place. We loved the downtown location. It is really set up nicely for family getaways. And in a good location for getting around the area. It was clean and had everything we needed. Nathan was great with communication.

Amazing place. We normally stay at the Hilton when we come up to visit family. We were going to be here all week due to 2 funerals back to back. We decided to get an airbnb so we had full kitchen and plenty of space. The space had everything we needed and was very welcoming. We had an issue with a battery on a fire alarm and they were able to fix quickly. I would recommend to anyone coming to the area and we will definitely stay here again in the future.
